Maya Angelou
A little story:
I had a great plan for how to transform my life. I worked it hard, really hard, and it failed. I tried a few more things, and they failed, too. My confidence was rocked. I looked other places. I let fear and doubt replace confidence and hope. Those are deadly attitudes that simply imprison us. I'm breaking out! I'm opening up again to using my creativity to create the life I really want. It's hard work, but it's only possible with an optimistic attitude.
How does this apply to the classroom:
You might be having one of those years where you try and fail. You might just be a very tired veteran. You might feel like the odds are stacked against you. You might not know where to turn. You might have tried to change it, and it didn't work. You might even be heartbroken.
The magic begins when we look honestly at our attitude.
Something to think or write about:
We can ask ourselves some questions, think about it, and then do something about it. It feels empowering, and I know I need cheerleaders to help me out, encourage me and let me process the complexity.
Is my attitude worth catching? Your students and the people around you are all impacted by your attitude.
What is one step I can take to lead from a more positive space?
How does my attitude affect my quality of life?
What do I want my attitude to look like and feel like?
There is so much in life we cannot change, brave heart, but our attitude is one we can change! Let it be a tool of transformation as you Make Magic in your classroom!
