It's so easy to be overly busy in the first few weeks of school and forget to care for ourselves. We don't eat lunch, we skip exercise, our sleep patterns are disturbed, or we don't take time for the people we love. It's too easy to get in the trap of "Just One More Thing."
It might not feel like it, but let go of the To Do List, and take care of yourself. Your students will thank you! So will your coworkers, your family and friends, and the other people in your life. Why? Because when we care for ourselves we renew and refresh. We gather new insights. We release stress and tension and improve our immunity. We acknowledge our humanity. When we are in tune with our needs it's easier to see the needs of others. When we care for ourself we have more patience and compassion for ourselves and others. Does this sound like a Win-Win? It is! So pause for a moment and decide what your next self care move is. Have you thought of it? Now go and do it. Be healthy and whole this year, Brave Teacher! ![]() So many of my teacher friends begin a new school year this week. This is especially for you! Wishing you the best school year ever, xo Brave Teacher Mim ![]() I find the beginning of the school year to be quite a dichotomy. On one hand everything is new and fresh and clean. On the other hand the the starter pistol goes off and everyone is sprinting, even though the school year is really a marathon. It's so easy to lose focus and that calm and stability you promised yourself you would maintain this year. When I'm not sure where the path is going, I find affirmations to be a simple and powerful tool. Short sweet reminders of who you are and what you want to be that gently illuminate the path. Starting on August 15, I will be emailing a pdf to everyone who signs up HERE. It will be a daily love note from me to you. I hope you will honor me by permitting me to share a bit of magic at the start of this school year with you! |
