![]() Something to write about or think about today: What do you wish someone would do for you, that you can do for someone else today? I recently heard a statement to this effect on a teleconference class I did with SARK and Marney. Marney was talking about how thinking about something like this had really changed her life years ago. I think it's perfect for Brave Teachers! I'm planning some fun little ways to show some people I work with that they are valued. I'll update you. I don't really anticipate that being returned. I'm going to just try to send out good energy, because I know that somewhere, some how, that will come back in an absolutely unexpected time and way and place. It's easy to see what's not getting done for us, but it's not always as easy to see that we really can "Be the change we want to see in the world." {Gandhi} P.S. Brave Teacher Fall Retreat is just four weeks away. Sign up now! ![]() An affirmation for us all today: I choose joy. It's so simple. It's so complex. It's a choice. My thoughts have wondered back to this so often in the past few weeks. My little corner of the universe was painfully rocked a couple weeks ago. I decided in just a few hours that I was still going to have my Best Year Ever. I chose joy. Was I happy in that moment? Nope. Did it feel good? No. But I chose joy. Are there variables in life we can't control? Absolutely! I'm still choosing joy. Sometimes it's really just a subtle shift that pops us right out of the negativity. Am I always joyful? No, and that's OK. How do you feel when you choose joy? Leonie has and adorable and FREE Poster on this very topic. Check it out! En--joy! P.S. There's still a few spaces for the Fall Brave Teachers Retreat. ![]() An affirmation for us all today: Life is good and People are kind. It's easy to doubt or be a skeptic on this one. That doesn't make it any less true. Of course there are exceptions, but they just prove it. If you need a little more proof, check out this post. (It totally choked me up.) or this one. If you're starting school this week like me, please know I'm keeping a little reserve of courage and strength to send to you. {Here it comes--Grab it!} It's not too late to sign up for the first ever Brave Teachers Fall Retreat! Check it out! ![]() A blessing for us all today: May I recognize the tools I posses That I will use To meet the challenges Before me. I am a firm believe that I have everything I need to do the work I was intended to do. (This of course is often different from the work others intend for me to do or I intend for myself!) May you feel blessed this week in the work you do! ![]() An affirmation for today, brave teachers: I am a beacon of light and hope. So let you light shine brightly wherever you may be! If you're in a dark place your light will be even more apparent. When I get around other teachers for those first few "professional development" days I tend to feel shy and insecure. My goal this year is to just be comfortable in my own skin and let my light shine. How are you feeling about the new year? The first Brave Teachers Fall Retreat is coming up, September 23-25. Find out more here. ![]() My little self care tip for today is: Practice saying no. Nothing in my life experience leads me to believe it's ok to say no. It's super difficult. I believe that part of having the best year ever is going to involve saying no sometimes. It might even mean saying no to some things I really want to do and to people I really care about. There is also no way of knowing how other people will respond to hearing me say no. (This feels very scary to me.) I'm also a person who want to convince you that I had really good reasons for saying no. I'm going to work hard to stop that. What suggestions do you have for making saying no a little easier? ![]() I don't even have words to say how excited about this I am. It's really happening! The first ever Brave Teachers Fall Retreat is happening! It's going to be so AMAZING! I'm already pouring lots of love and courage and strength into it. I'm pulling together some of my favorite peeps to support the event. (Shout out to Aine for support and Bobbi for yoga and Mercedes.) Here are the vitals: What: Brave Teachers Retreat When: September 23 - 25, 2011 Where: Lakeside, Ohio (Cottage just a few blocks from Lake Erie!) Why: Because you, brave teacher, are sooooo worth it! So here are some more details to let you know just how FAB this is going to be:
Space is super limited, so if this is speaking to you and you want to sign up or you want the brochure go HERE! ![]() A blessing for you today: When the winds of life toss you about May you hold tightly to yourself Rooted in your beliefs and values and ideals and the people that matter But most of all my you know that you are enough And hold on to yourself. I think this is a time of year when it's really easy to be thrown off balance. I hope we all remember that our roots are deep and tried and true. I hope we won't lose ourselves in the forest of newness. You are so precious and dear, brave teacher. ![]() This is some thoughts on Brave Self Care and Brave Writing today. . . Here is the question to write or think about today: How am I going to take really good care of myself this year? I believe that it is impossible to do this if I'm not planning and preparing for it. I don't know about anyone else, but in a stressful moment the last thing I'm thinking of is how I'm going to take care of myself. So I've formulated a little list of my top 11 ways to practice self care. You can check it out here. You can also grab some FREEBIES at the bottom of the Visioning Page. Today is the last day for my SUPER SPECIAL DEAL. Check it out here. I'm sending out so much courage today. I hope you're grabbing some of it! |
